Former Miss Philippines
Veteran actress and former Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1967 Pilar Pilapil was rushed to a hospital after being stabbed several times by suspected carjackers in Marikina City, Thursday night.
Marikina City police chief Gabriel Lopez said they are still probing the incident because Pilapil's husband temporarily begged off to be interviewed by police investigators.
Quoting initial report, Lopez said Pilapil and a female companion were on board a vehicle somewhere in the upper portion of Barangka between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday when unidentifed men commandeered the victims' vehicle.
"Pinababa daw si Pilar sa bandang Antipolo kung saan humingi siya ng tulong sa mga tao sa isang bahay doon. May mga saksak na siya," Lopez said.
Pilapil was initially brought to Antipolo Medical Center in Masinag then transferred to The Medical City in Ortigas, Pasig City, where she is now recuperating from her wounds, the police official said.
Lopez said they could not contact the mobile phone of Pilapil's female companion to get more information on the incident.
